Additional comments:

When we checked in here at the Ranger Station we were offered a Friends of Georgia State Parks membership. They have different membership levels and the Adventurer Level membership which we chose costs $90.00 ($67.50 for seniors 62 and over, like me). It includes 2 free nights of camping which we immediately cashed in on and saved $80.00 right there. It also gets you a 10% discount on all additional nights of camping for one year. And to top it all off you receive a State Park Pass which gives you free entry to all Georgia State Parks for one year.

NOTE: This was the perfect base station for exploring Historic Savannah and visiting nearby Fort Pulaski National Monument.
