Crossing the state line between Florida and Georgia

We have made it out of Florida!

Today we finally left Florida and crossed over into a new state, Georgia. The state line crossing was kind of anticlimactic due to the heavy rains we were experiencing at the time. It was raining so hard we didn't even get a good photo of the small welcome to Georgia sign. We crossed over the border on US17 and not I95, so the sign was not as grand as what I expected to see. This one was small and covered in stickers and bullet holes, I guess a proper welcoming to Georgia.

We drove through the outskirts of Savannah to get to our destination, Skidaway Island State Park. What a difference between this park and the last one we stayed at for the Fourth of July. Our site is large with privacy from our neighbors, too bad we are only here for four nights, just enough time to tour Savannah and visit the National Monument nearby. All this comes at a price though, this site is nearly double the cost of our previous site.

This will be a short visit to Georgia but we will be back in the northern parts of the state in November and then back on the coast in February, if all goes according to plan.

Until next time
