When we plan our route the day before moving day there are a few things we always try to avoid, some we have control over and some we don't. What we do have control over is avoiding Interstate Highways and toll roads. We're in no hurry to get to the next campground because there seems to always be several hours between check out time at one park and check in time at the next. Plus you never get to SEE anything when you're speeding down the Interstate and everyone else seems to be in such a rush. Yep, it's definitely the less traveled back roads for us.
The things we don't have control over is the weather and traffic. Rain and especially wind are not safe when it comes to towing a 27 foot trailer behind your truck. We try to control the traffic by avoiding rush hours and large cities at any time of the day. Generally we travel between 10AM and 2PM which also avoids having to back into a campsite in the dark.
A few days before we moved the trailer we had our third and final yard sale at our friends home. The last of our household items that we were storing at their home went out into the driveway at 6:30AM and by 9AM we were done, mostly because at 9:15AM it started raining. All of the GOOD STUFF was sold and what was left we happily donated to their favorite charity for pickup. Several items from our truck and trailer were added to the items for sale, namely a couple of EXTRA chairs, a chop saw?, an old style battery jump starter, a 3 ton floor jack and our other 10x10 canopy, the one that didn't get broken. All this stuff sold and as a result we netted $506 and shed another 240 pounds.
