ALASKAN STOP #32Fred Meyer Parking LotEAGLE RIVER, AK |
After making our hasty exit from the flooding conditions we were surrounded by in the Chugach National Forest we decided to drive to an area closer to our next intended stop on the opposite side of Anchorage.
We arrived at the Walmart Supercenter in Eagle River, AK only to find posted signs that "absolutely no overnight parking was allowed". True to the signage there was not a single RV anywhere in sight and it was already after 7:30PM. I jumped onto Google Maps and found there was a Fred Meyer Supermarket on the opposite side of Eagle River so while sitting in the Walmart parking lot I phoned to find out if they allowed overnight parking.
I was afraid the entire town of Eagle River maybe had an ordinance that no overnight parking was allowed, but apparently that's not the case. Admittedly, the Walmart was on the "nicer side of town", maybe that had something to do with the restrictions.
Walmart lost out because the next morning we bought $200 worth of groceries at the Fred Meyer to last us our week in Anchorage.
