ALASKAN STOP #17DENALI VIEW SOUTH CAMPGROUNDTRAPPER CREEK, AK |
Today's short 3-mile moving day involved driving down (226' in elevation) and out of the campground, crossing the highway and setting up in the Denali View South parking lot. It's the same place we've gone every morning for the last few days. There are nine picnic tables and grills set up here and that is what constitutes a campsite.
There is a pay station here to collect the camping fees, but it has a black garbage bag securely wrapped and taped around it like it's out of order. I'm going to assume that means it's FREE to camp here until they fix it. There is also a spot for a camp host, but that spot is vacant, so there is no one to ask.
If someone in uniform comes knocking at our door I'll be glad to pay them for the campsite.
We are going to hang out here at Denali View South until either Katherine and John show up (finally catching up with us on the road here in Alaska) OR 1:30PM rolls around and it's time to move 40-miles down the road to our next campsite.
We had the whole parking lot to ourselves for most of the night!
