OVERNIGHT AT WALMART IN WYOMING (WY)

There are only 12 Walmarts in the entire state of Wyoming!
Casper (2) and Cheyenne (2) each have two.
Cody - Evanston - Gillette - Laramie - Rawlins - Riverton - Rock Springs - Sheridan

In just Broward County, FL alone (where we're from) there are 16!
Of course there are 1.9-million people in Broward County, compared to 575,000 in Wyoming.

FRIDAY - Well, we took the long way around the mountains today, just to keep ROVER happy and "cool under the hood".

Before we even reached the end of the 2.5-mile gravel road that leads out of the park Tricia was snapping photos.

While this homesite isn't right on Pearl Lake it's close enough to walk there.

Now there's a barn that's seen it's fair share of winter snowstorms.

Today we achieved our 99th State Border Crossing, this one was between Colorado and Wyoming. That leaves us with just 8 more to finish up crossing them all.

We're not the only ones who pull off the road to take photos of the "Welcome to ..." signs.
That white car pulled back onto the road when he saw me pulling off behind them.

Yep, we're definitely in Wyoming now! Know how I can tell? Even though Wyoming is our 10th largest state by size, it's the least populated state in the entire country with just a little over 575,000 residents. With an estimated 1,240,000 cattle in Wyoming, it has a ratio of 2.15 cattle per person.

CO-13 turns into WY-789 at the state border and terminates at I-80 near Creston, WY.
We traveled the road for 90-miles and saw very few people,
other than inside the small town of Baggs, WY (pop. 411) where we stopped for gas.

While on Interstate 80 there was at least other traffic in view most of the time.

We arrived at the Walmart Supercenter in Rawlins, WY just before 3:30PM and found the parking lot pretty full. There were a few other RVers here (we learned later they were not spending the night) and we couldn't find a suitable place to park for the night.

So we filled up at the Walmart Fuel Station (they're usually the cheapest in town) and then parked ROVER and THE POD in a very poor location in the parking lot.

We then went into the store and purchased just over $100 worth of groceries, in addition to $87 we had just spent at the gas pump.

As I always do before an expected Walmart overnight, I first call the store to make sure they allow overnight parking, then I go onto Google Maps and scout out where I would prefer to park the rig if I had my choice.

As I said, the parking lot was pretty full when we arrived and there was a large semi-tractor trailer parked in the spot I had selected. But when we exited the store after grocery shopping I saw all the way across the lot that the semi-truck was no longer in MY space.

We threw the groceries inside THE POD and hurriedly headed for the opposite side of the parking lot. We snagged what I considered to be "the best spot in the lot" and then we celebrated by having "Banana Splits" for dinner (it's just something Tricia's mother used to do with her every once in a while when she was a child). There's that Good Karma again!

Here we are parked on the edge of the lot outside of the Garden Center.

One other benefit of being far away from the fuel pumps and the grocery entrance of the store is that we now have next to us a semi-truck repair business that's closed up for the weekend, so there won't be any noise coming from that side.

Everyone's gone for the weekend, but I wonder if anyone realizes they left this truck running.

No it's not running, it's just the strong winds playing tricks on us!
