WE MADE IT TO OUR DESTINATION - SACRAMENTO (CA)

FRIDAY - Since we left Florida 19 days ago we've had 15 one night stops, plus we've limited all of our travels days to between 138 and 209 miles each.

By limitimg our driving distances each day, plus taking a 4-night break in Texas, it didn't really feel like it was that grueling of a 2743-mile drive.

We took things kind of easy the first two days here in Sacramento and then got to work preparing to drop off ROVER and THE POD on Tuesday.

In an attempt to eat as much as we could from items already in our refrigerator, so we wouldn't have to throw it away, we've only eaten out once while we've been here and that was on Friday when we first arrived.

In-N-Out Burger started out in Los Angeles County in 1948 as a 100 sq. ft. "drive thru only" burger restaurant.

The founder Harry Snyder had grown his business to 21 locations, all still "drive thru only", when he passed away in 1976. It was then when his two sons took over the business that they began to open locations with indoor dining.

In 2023 the chain opened their 400th store in their 8th state. Today they have locations in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado and Idaho.

In-N-Out only serves burgers (and a chili dog), with your choice of 1 to 4 patties, with fries, soda or a shake. That's it! It's similiar to Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers philosophy of only serving one item and serving it better than anyone else.

Now I don't know if I'd say In-N-Out Burgers are the best, but they sure are better than most of the "BIG NAME" burger chains that we've run across throughout our travels.

MONDAY - It's just like me to save some of the most important tasks until the last day we're in town.

Today I'm tasked with getting my 90-day prescriptions refilled and visiting Vinnie's Northbay Airstream to try and take care of most of the paperwork involved with getting THE POD repaired, updated and stored while we are in Hawaii. In all fairness Vinnie's was closed over the weekend so today was my only chance to take care of the paperwork.

Tomorrow our good friend David will be driving down from where he lives in Napa to give us a lift over to our San Francisco Airport Hotel for our last night on the mainland. Before he heads back home we'll treat him to lunch at a location of his choosing, he lives in the general area afterall.

He says we have to sample tasting a California Tri-Tip Sandwich. The Tri-Tip was first named and marketed in Oakland, CA in the 1950s. I can't wait to try it!
