KILLENS POND STATE PARK (DE)

THURSDAY - I stand corrected! When I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

We did not have to pay a bridge toll to escape New Jersey this morning.

We did however pay a $10 toll the minute we touched down on the Delaware side of the bridge.

All tucked in at our new site and for the first time in 2-weeks we have electricity.

With adequate cell phone signal there's no need to break out the Starlink satellite dish.

The trail leading to the Pondside Nature Trail is conveniently at the edge of our campsite.

FRIDAY - Tricia decided to extend her early morning walk today to include the 2.6-mile Pondside Nature Trail that loops around the edge of Killens Pond, the 66-acre millpond in the center of the park.

Access to the trail is between our campsite and the one next to us, so I imagine we'll be seeing lots of people this weekend starting their hikes.

This bench would be a wonderful place to watch the sunrise, probably why it's here.

With the sun comes the morning breeze and no more reflections on the water.

So it's time to start looking towards the skies for the fall color show that's beginning.

THE POD can easily be seen while hiking the Pondside Nature Trail.

Tonight we're making a large pot of my Green and White Chili. I call it that because nearly everything that goes into the pot is either "green" or "white", how clever of me huh?

We're going to be slightly modifying the recipe this time around to use up an item we purchased months ago in an effort to clear out our pantry. We will be substituting a can of "Cream of Jalapeño" soup in place of the "Cream of Celery" soup and the white pepper that is called for in my original recipe.

Honestly, I hope we don't like this modified recipe better, because I have no idea how we could purchase another can of "Cream of Jalapeño" soup without returning to the state of Texas and locating an H-E-B Store where we purchased this can. The whole reason Tricia purchased this one is because she'd never seen it before (or since).

SATURDAY - Tonight Tricia and I will enjoy a 35-minute trip around the fields and forests of Killens Pond State Park on a tractor-drawn wagon ride.

The tickets were only $6 a piece and the 4:00PM and 5:00PM wagons were already sold out. We got the last two tickets for the only other ride at 6:00PM.

We waited until 10-minutes after 6:00PM and still half of our wagon was empty when we left.

The only wildlife spotted along the ride were two different groups of deer.

I'd say they were more curious than scared of the loud tractor and a wagon half full of people.
