FRIDAY - While we only moved 8-miles east on US-12 today, apparently it was plenty long enough for
ROVER's windshield to get hit by another rock and for the third time in 6-years sustained enough damage to required the glass to be replaced.
Poor ROVER! We try to take good care of him, but accidents do happen.
OUCH! That did leave a mark.
Again, no Starlink signal is going to penetrate this tree cover.
It's a pretty large site and perfectly level, left to right at least, not so much front to back though.
SATURDAY - After a loud (lightning and thunder) overnight and a very wet morning the weather finally started to clear just after lunch so we could get out and do some sightseeing.
There are two historic homesteads inside of the park, the Chellberg Farm and the Bailly Homestead, both are designated as National Historic Landmarks.
SIGHTSEEING AT INDIANA DUNES
First up is the Chellberg Farm, where you can tour the ground floor inside the house.
All of the rooms were of a fairly modest size when compared to the homes of today.
It wouldn't be a real farm without goats...
...and a few chickens, now would it?
This is the Bailly Homestead which is right next door.
It's being renovated to make it safe to once again tour the inside.
This little out building on the homestead...
...was used as a small general store back in the day.
On the other side of the park was a slightly different kind of historic district.
There are five homes over here that were originally built as "Homes of the Future"
for the 1933 Chicago World's Fair before being relocated here in Indiana.
Unlike the previous one, this one is in pretty good shape for a 90-year old home.
All five homes are currently leased to private individuals by the National Parks Service.
This was my favorite because it sits right on the shore of Lake Michigan...
...and this one does too.
