NOMADIVERSARY

no·mad·i·ver·sa·ry
/ˌnō-ˌmadˈəˈvərs(ə)rē/
noun

Merriam-Webster definitions:

NOMAD - a member of a people who have no fixed residence but move from place to place usually seasonally and within a well-defined territory

ANNIVERSARY - the annual recurrence of a date marking a notable event

Now if you compound these two words together you get nomadiversary. While it's true that this word is not yet recognized by Merriam-Webster I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it is.

I'm sure you all have figured out by now that today, May 12th, is our nomadiversary! It's been one year since we hitched up our Airstream and left Broward County, FL for the last time. In that time we have met many different and interesting people, seen many different points of interest and visited family members we wouldn't have otherwise seen.

We started out by visiting the Southernmost Point in the continental United States in Key West, FL. This week we visited the top of One World Trade Center in New York City, NY, the tallest building in the U.S. and the entire Western Hemisphere. We have visited 44 of our National Park Service Properties which includes 7 National Parks, 9 National Monuments and 7 National Seashores. In addition we visited 5 World Heritage Sites in 5 different states.

We have climbed mountain trails to see waterfalls and gone below ground to explore caverns. As of today we have visited 15 of our United States and towed our trailer behind us over 7,500 miles doing it. All this in just one year! It's hard to believe we have yet to touch our savings and 401k accounts and survived on just my Social Security checks and Tricia's part-time employment earnings. We weren't sure that we could do this when we started, but one year later we appear to have it mostly under control.

I know some of you are thinking I may have just jinxed ourselves by writing all of this down and sharing it with you, but neither of us are the superstitious type, heck we took delivery of our new trailer on Friday the 13th after all and that has turned out just fine.
